Sydney is another name to be added to the roll of honour for the Dawley district, during my ongoing research I came across Sydney death in 1918. He was actually listed as a Little Wenlock resident but according to the 1901 census was born and living at 151 Woodhouse Lane, Horsehay with his parents Charles, a machinist at the Ironworks and his mother Susannah.

By 1911 the family was living at 12 Spring village, Horsehay with Sydney aged 11 and twin younger sisters Muriel & Mary aged 1.

At some point Sydney enlisted into the KSLI only to die on Dec 10th 1918 nearly a month after the war concluded. He is buried at the Premont British cemetery in grave IV.A.6 at this point of time I have been unable to ascertain his cause of death.

Inscription added to head stone by, Mr. C. Bagnall, 12, Spring Village, Horsehay, Shropshire, (you can just see part of it at the bottom of the head stone.
